FACTS & ALLEGATIONS   Plaintiff Jonathan Uribe, 3 years old, was bitten on the face by defendant Maria Meza’s dog while in Meza’s backyard. Jonathan had entered from the backyard entrance with a relative who carried him in her arms. When she put Jonathan down, the dog jumped towards him and bit him on the cheek.
Uribe sustained a curvilinear scar on his right cheek. Surgery changed the scar from a C‑shaped scar to a straight line scar. His plastic surgeon felt surgery made the scar look narrower. Whether the appearance of the scar was better following the surgery was disputed.

RESULT    The case settled about 60 days before trial for $85,200.
